DEALING With FRUSTRATION -
---I think that many of us deal with frustration, much of the time. I, also, don't think that we are aware of this most of the time. In my own case, I didn't expect to be living in a hospital, at this age. In short, I expected to be doing something/anything else. In general, we seem to be a lot of frustrated beings who do many things out of this frustration that cause and keep each other frustrated.
---The best things I have found to do when I deal with this depression, is to do things that I like. Cheering someone up, works wonders. Talking with others is also a great way to take the pressure off. Using our creative abilities is a good mood changer.
---Frustration is a large issue, and one we ALL deal with, usually on a daily basis. It doesn't matter if you are ''have'' or ''have not,'' staff or resident. Frustration seems to be looming somewhere. Learning to deal with those things that frustrate us, seems like a good strategy.
---It always take two to tango, so I suggest we look at those who frustrate us as well as at those who we frustrate. In this way we are realistic in are viewpoint. The next time you feel frustrated - look at why you feel frustrated AND at why you have allowed another person's behavior to frustrate you. Also, peek at what else you may like to be doing, instead of what you are doing. These are different ways we get to know ourselves better, and that helps any/every situation we may find ourselves in. Take Care.

REAL F-word...STAND UP
Will The ''REAL''
F-word...Please, Stand Up.
---From the standpoint of behaviors, it makes sense that I would choose FRUSTRATION as my F-word of choice. I think I have made a case for it, and since we ALL seem to be flirting with being frustrated, it seems a viable choice.
---We, also, have FASCISM, to be part of the mix. If we take it broadly, we can define it as imposing our will on others. My way or the highway, comes to mind. The dictator, itself, could be the idea that things have to be done in a certain way...with some kind of violent repercussion, for those who don't cut it.
---The Catholic religion was taught that way to me...with Hell always hanging in the balance. I could ''earn,'' an eternity in Hell, for the slightest infraction. It was ALL so unreasonable. Fascism fits in here, somewhere. The misunderstanding of Love, has made God, Jesus and the Pope out to be dictators...with NO room for developement. [Some of the Popes, actually, acted the part, and greatly promoted the idea that God and Jesus were dictators, first. They never, actually, said that God, etc. were dictators, they just portrayed, taught and, I would say, believed this, themselves.]
---I, myself, do not see life this way. I had to break my ties with the church to find out who I am...and to see what Jesus, et. al., were talking about, throughout the ages. I found that if one truly finds what LOVE is, himself, then he finds that many other interpretations are NOT necessary. BE LOVING. It is still the finest thing around.
---The truth, then, is NOT so complicated. In this way, we can see that the way Catholicism was taught to me, makes it to be another Fascism...and makes Fascism another F-word, I have had to deal with. The dictatorship of thought that I had to deal with, has created much of my FRUSTRATION. Eliminating one has eliminated the other. Take Care.

FRUSTRATION NOT FORCE - The ''REAL'' F-word

CONSIDER THIS...
FRUSTRATION:
To HINDER The Progress.
---How I see things is what keeps everything in some kind of order for me. For a very long time I remember having very little on which to comment. I remember having no opinion about anything. Then I understood that it is ALL about Love, and suddenly it fit together.
---This is all well and good, but I finally realized that everyone doesn't see it this way. At first, I thought it was myself, and I was finally catching on to what everyone else knew. I just assumed that this piece of information was common knowledge. So many spoke of Love being the answer, that I was thrown by their hypocrisy. I would hear of Love from people who weren't very loving.

.
---People are GENERALLY and GENUINELY, Frustrated---
.
---I now realize what the problem must be. The problem is ''Frustration.'' People are generally frustrated. Human Beings are generally and genuinely Frustrated. Somehow, I didn't realize this. No kidding, this is a revelation.
---Frustrated from what, you may ask? Frustrated from being themself. It is very difficult to know yourself well enough to be who you really are. That is what we are doing ALL the time. We are trying to be ourselves. The only trouble is that we keep frustrating ourselves and others over and over. We are a bunch of frustrated individuals, doing a lot of frustrated things that keep ourselves and others frustrated.

.
---Quick Test: Frustration = Amount Of (REAL) Swear Words---
.
---As a quick test, the next time you want to use a swear word, check to see if frustration has anything to do with it. I'll bet it does.
---If we look up ''frustration'' in the dictionary we see it means disappointment, thwarted, etc.. We can see how much it applies to our own life and to those around us. To everyone in general. It doesn't matter who we are, where we have been, where we come from, what we do, etc. We all understand frustration and that is from a first-hand knowledge of it. We all deal with frustration.
---I see Love as being the answer, and the Understanding and Acceptance we have for one another. We find ourselves applying ''Love'' to each other, teaching each other to be less and less frustrated. We go from being ''frustrated'' to being ''Love'' or ''Loving.'' It is very important to allow the Kingdom within, the Kingdom of Love, to shine forth. We should not let our ''music'' stay inside.

---FRUSTRATION, Interferes With Ones Ability To Love---
.
---In psychotherapeutic terms the Ego lessens, sloughing off this frustration. It stops interfering with the Love, within everyone, from coming to the forefront. It expresses itself in Artistic and Creative ways as we see more people follow their Heart and reach their potential. Instead of the ''Mind'' controlling the ''Heart,'' we let the Heart drive for awhile and enjoy the ride. Be Well.

A FRUSTRATING CONTRADICTION

CONSIDER THIS...
BEING WHO WE ARE and
NOT WHO WE ''THINK'' WE SHOULD BE.
---I think many people are caught up in this. Many of us are in pursuit of what we think we should be and never find the treasure that exists inside. Often we are told to modify our behavior and ''act'' in a good way or' polite' way, at the ''cost'' of being ourselves. We seek 'approval' at our own expense. We Save Face instead of being truthful. Children seem to be especially accosted in this way. It's where the mold takes shape.
---I am a firm ''believer'' in what we have within, and once people have cleaned out their muck and mire, they will be naturally good--and it Won't Be Acting. This is not an excuse to act thoughtlessly and to make others Your victims. It is important to be intelligent in your actions. All of us have this to go through. It is not an ''easy'' thing to do, but the benefits outweigh any ''hardships'' one may encounter.

.
---We PLEASE OTHERS At OUR OWN Expense, Often---
.
---Many times our families and relations have such a hold on us that we act in a way that ''pleases'' them or in some cases ''rebels'' to what they think, as opposed to who and what we would naturally do if we were ''free'' of all of this. Don't fret too much as our parents and relations, themselves, are probably caught in this also from their parents, relations, etc. Also, though, this does not excuse their behavior, either, or make it any easier. Work this out or get this worked out, forgive them, and move on.
---Much of the time we find ourselves competing and comparing ourselves to others instead of ''being'' who we are. As long as we are faring better than our neighbor, or the next guy, we can ''feel'' we are doing alright. We put much stock in being in the Status Quo of things. Unfortunately, we accept pettiness as a reaity, instead of discovering and uncovering the Truth we have inside ourselves.
---Find what is inside and don't settle. Don't get yourself caught in the point of view that is the ''common'' one. Realize what You have Within. Begin by telling yourself the Truth and watch it blossom. It starts there, Within Yourself. No matter how trivial it may ''sound'' at first, You will unravel the mysteries of Who You Are and ''Life'' itself, eventually. Be Well.

If I Were Painting a Picture about The LEVELS of ''FRUSTRATION''

A POEM
THE ''LEVELS'' Of FRUSTRATION
The Levels of ''FRUSTRATION.''
The First Level would be Confined
Inside a Tiny Box,
Hardly Any Air to Breathe,
Or Room to Move,
And Relatively NO Place to Go,
And NO One To Help Out.
On Each Level The Boxes
Would Get Progressively Bigger,
Until you Reached The Last Level,
Where There is NO Box At All,
And You're Free from Confinement
And You're in the ''LAND
WHERE ONLY LOVE EXISTS.''

THE ''FRUSTRATION'' NATION ..

We All Frustrate One Another.
I Just Realized This.
Every Interruption Is - A Frustration!
Anytime I Take You From Your Selected Task
And Change Your Course,
I Frustrate The Process.
Frustration! I've Noticed, is A Big Problem.
Of Course, Love is The Answer.
But How Many Times Do We Frustrate On The Way There?
Every Obstacle is-A Frustration!
Every Speedbump is-A Frustration!
Every Speed-up is-A Frustration!
Whatever Takes Us From Our Natural Pace,
Or Makes It More Difficult For Us,
Is - A Frustration.
The Thread Of Frustration
Seems To Be The ''Problem''
We Seem To Deal With Daily
In Our Daily Lives.
I Really Have No End For This.
Frustrating Isn't It?
Except For LOVE, Of Course

NOT Knowing WHAT to SAY,

''First-Hand'' Experience
---FRUSTRATION is something that I'll bet EVERYONE knows about from a First-Hand experience. It seems to be one those things that we, as humans, deal with much or most of the time. Who hasn't dealt with some sort of FRUSTRATION? I'll also bet you can relate to some of the questions above.
---I've done a lot of thinking on the subject lately, and I see it is potentially there in ALL situations. You have one ''plan'' while someone has ''another.'' When they meet, someone is not going to be satisfied. FRUSTRATION. Since both expected their plans to work, someone is going to have to compromise. How well one ''Compromises his Expectations,'' seems to play a part in it. This is a part of the ''give'' and ''take'' of everyones life. We learn from these experiences. We soon see which cards to hold and which to fold.
---We set out to go from point A to point B. Something gets in the way-a Roadblock. We can NOT go from A to B, smoothly. Something ''frustrates'' the situation. The Roadblock.

---Much Depends On Relationship With ROADBLOCK---
.
---If we have a ''good'' relationship with the Roadblock, then the problem is less. If we can't stand the Roadblock, then the frustration is more. It seems to work like this in all our frustrations- big to small.
---For example, you sit down to a hot meal. A to B is to eat the meal hot. Telephone rings-Roadblock. How you deal with the Roadblock in this case is how well you deal with this particular A to B. Your level of frustration will reflect this. If the ''call'' goes well or not is seen in how frustrated you are. Some of us are frustrated before the meal even enters the picture. Maybe better days were put on hold a long time ago.

.
---It seems that if we want to be less frustrated that we should ''improve'' our relationships with the Roadblocks that come up. Or, maybe it is time to make right roadblocks that have come up in our past. If we see the same ones a lot, maybe we should look at our A to B, and be sure we are going with the ''best'' A to B, the ''best'' situation, we can. Be Well.

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson,
Go Camping
---Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson go on a camping trip, set up their tent, and fall asleep. Some hours later, Holmes wakes his faithful friend.
---''Watson, look up at the sky and tell me what do you see.''
---Watson replies, ''I see millions of stars.''
---''What does that tell you?''
---Watson ponders for a minute. ''Astronomically speaking, it tells me there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Astrologically, it tells me Saturn is in Leo. Timewise, it appears to be a quarter past three. Theologically, it is evident the Lord is all powerful and we are small and insignificant. Meteorologically, it seems we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. What does it tell you?''
---Holmes is silent for a moment, then speaks, ''Watson, you idiot. Someone has stolen our tent.''

The FRUSTRATION ''FACTOR''

CONSIDER THIS...
I Talk About The STROKE,
JESUITS and SMOKING
--- A Dictionary Definition of ''Frustrate'' is- To make worthless or nullify. To thwart. This is very important to me and I think to many others, and it seems to be one of those situations that governs the other things that we do. I see where it applies to my own situation and I will share it with you.

---''One Time, Pretty Normal.'' - EXPLAINS---
.
---Not too long ago, I was pretty much ''normal'', whatever that is. By ''normal'' I mean, I could walk around, see properly and had balance without the aid of a wheelchair or any other device. I did have high blood pressure that was untreated, and I did smoke. This was not a good combination as both, probably, contributed to my Stroke. I'm sure. In any case, I'll bet it didn't ward it off.
---In any event, I was doing alright. I could do much of what I wanted to do and I was not being particularly- ''thwarted.'' There was not a whole lot of frustration to deal with. For the most part, things went along fairly smooth.
---June 2, 2002, I had a ''Stroke.'' I was 51 years old at the time, a bit on the
young side to have this happen. A thumbnail view of what occurred is that I bled into the brain-stem area [where the brain and the spinal cord meet]. My mobility changed big time and I have had double-vision ever since.

.
---FRUSTRATION FOLLOWED STROKE---
.
---This is where the ''frustration'' comes in. It is in the fact that I can no longer do what I could do. I am being thwarted, so to speak. I will also bet, and I'm sure its a safe bet, to say that most of us feel we are in the same boat, at least at times. We can no longer do what we could do. We feel thwarted and frustrated. If we take this a step further, I'll bet many of us can put our ''hopes'' and ''dreams'' into this category, too. The things we wanted to do, but never did. This is also the
breeding ground for ''frustration.''
---Feeling frustrated is one of those big ones that we see most people have to contend with much of the time. Think how often it comes into play on a short drive. It is not just reserved for stroke patients or people with an illness. We can see the way it pervades our Society. We make plans to go one way and we go another. Every day-to-day thing we seem to do seems laced with the potential for frustration. We are doing what we want and are interrupted. It leaves us with loose ends that are just ''hanging'', needing to be resolved. Many of us have placed ourselves on ''hold'' and never have quite gotten around to ''fulfilling'' what is still there.
---To BE Jesuit Priest, At One Time---
.
---I was going to be a Jesuit priest at one time, which, to me, involved this kind of writing and giving retreats. It, in some sense, was a place where this type of thinking and communication was taking place. There is no point in beating myself up over this. Acknowledging the truth-of-the-matter is a very good place to start. I then realize that going another way has yielded a certain knowledge, also, and has had riches of its own. I have learned either way. To go one step further, maybe going the ''other way'' was my path to begin with. Its funny that we learn certain things in spite of ourselves. It sort of happens in ''another way.'' Be Well.
